Market Movers Sports Cards App Review and Guide

For any old school sports card collectors out there, you know things have changed over the past few years in what it means to collect sports cards.

As kids, we used to check the pricing guides each month and see how our cards were going up or down in price. That is not how it works now, but thankfully Market Movers is there to help do the same thing.

What is Market Movers?

Market Movers was created by Sports Card Investor and is the most comprehensive sports card price guide, collecting tracking system and market analysis tool. Market Movers gives you everything you need to profit from the hobby you love.

It is an app given users a sports card data tool to help investors and collectors see what’s going on in the card market by collecting prior eBay sales of thousands of cards and then displaying it in a multitude of ways. Market Movers allows users to easily understand the past to spot future trends and opportunities so they can make better informed investment decisions and make more profit and less costly mistakes.

Purpose of Market Movers

Market Movers is intended to take data and present it in a meaningful way. This allows the user to use the app and continue to learn and think and observe trends over time. In the end, it will help you make informed decisions so that you’re not going to overpay for a card or lose a lot of money while taking part in a hobby you love.

Market Movers includes price charts for 800,000+ sports cards, wax boxes, Marvel cards, Pokemon, and more. Compare card prices across PSA, BGS and SGC grades and raw condition, so options for every kind of collector out there.

Market Movers – How It Works

With Market Movers, it allows you to put all of your cards in one place. The app allows you to easily add to, track, and organize your entire collection. View your collection value and stats by sport, year, player, set, and grade. Plus track all of your transactions to understand your profit and loss over time.

Market Movers allows you to view card price changes in real time. You can quickly and easily identify players and cards that are hot or cold. You can use Price Movements data to perfectly time your next transaction. This will allow you to visually see trend lines and see what is high and what is low, so you can invest in what is low and sell what is high. You can also compare one card or one player versus another to find opportunity before everyone else does.

Price/Value

The app allows you to quickly find underpriced cards. You find out the best prices on cards across multiple marketplaces. You can browse and buy cards listed under market value. Market Movers also allows users to track market trends by sport, era, and more. You can evaluate and compare the performance of specific markets with a variety of indexes. Want to look up football players from the 1990s? Maybe some old school baseball players? How about 2019 Prizm basketball rookies? With Market Movers, you will know what’s hot and what’s not.

By using the app, you will be alerted when prices change on the cards you are following. You will be the first to know about these new prices thanks to the custom alerts you set up. Whether you are buying or selling, you will be ready when the price moves.

Market Movers Review

After downloading the Market Movers app and logging in, you will see that it is a very clean and very bright. The app uses a white theme versus a dark theme, which allows you to see lines a little easier.

With the dashboard, you can save certain players or searches. No one wants to duplicate this process every time they log into the app, so having these saved options right in the dashboard is a very good perk.

Store Your Own Collections

One of the perks of the app has to be the ability to save your own collection. In the dashboard, you will see icons on the left. Under the home page you will see your own collection, which is where you can put in your own cards. This allows you to track your own cards growth or decline over time. By seeing this, you can when it would be a good time to buy more or to sell it off.

More Useful Icons

Also on the dashboard, you will find an icon that allows you to look for underpriced cards by player, by set, or even sealed wax. You can set your own filters, which allows you to put in the factors and parameters that you like. This allows you to exclude anything you want, so you can focus on what matters most to you and then find trends within those filters.

What does this mean? If you want to invest in a certain player, like Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills, then you know there are a lot of different cards and different variations of Allen cards. You really want to focus in on what card or cards of Allen give you the most upside. The more filters you have available, then the more in-depth you can go to find what is truly undervalued and then filter out the rest.

Another filter you can click on is the ability to exclude Probstein Auctions, PWCC Auctions or even some consignment sellers where shill bidding is very common. You can also filter out sellers that have low or negative feedback.

Another great icon on the dashboard is the price movements by player screen. A great way to gauge investments is to look at cards or players that trending up or trending down. This gives you a look into the insights of what investors and collectors have been doing, so being able to look at the trends for players over the last seven days, 14 days, 30 days and so on and so forth is crucial. If the player has been dropping and dropping, but then starts to have an incline, time to buy while it starts to rise and increase in price.

The price movements by player screen shows you what’s happening with every single player in the Market Movers databases. Besides seeing the trends for the timeframe you put in there, you can also sort by percent change by sales dollars or filter by sport year. With the community feeling you get in the Market Movers app, you will see people in the community who are making their own YouTube videos showing you how to use these features in livestreams.

Another Great Feature – Alerts!

If you are a collector or investors in sports cards, then you know sometimes the quicker you react, the better investment you might be making. That is why the alert feature for Market Movers is so great. This feature notifies you when a certain card hits a specific threshold or price you entered into the system.

With this feature, not only are you able to track certain cards, but it also allows you to track when they hit a certain low or high price. So, when it hits that low price you set, then you can go into the app and buy the card at such a low price. If the card gets to your high price, then go in and sell it and make the profit you were hoping for. This is a great feature that saves you time and energy, as you won’t have to go in and keep checking on the card price every day or two.

Unlimited Membership Feature – Intelligence Reports

One of the features available only for Unlimited members is a newer feature, which gives the user intelligence reports. Market Movers offers three different reports:

  1. Grade Ratios
  2. Variation Ratios
  3. Player Ratios

What this feature does is all you to run specific reports, which would compare the different aspects of the cards. For example, running a report comparing the 2019 Prizm basketball cards for PSA 10 to PSA 9. These reports will analyze the price ratio between the two different grades and give you an average. The report will give you the median, the minimum and the maximum amount for that card. This will allow you to determine price outliers for the cards or players.

Market Movers Membership Perks

One of the big perks of signing up for a Market Movers subscription would be members getting access to a private Discord channel. This allows members to chat strategy, but also ask questions with other investors. You are all paying to use this tool, so you are all invested and looking to make some money with it. If you are using this tool, then you are pretty serious about investing in cards, so it is a great way to communicate with other serious investors.

Another perk with Market Movers has to be the number of cards in the database. It is the largest and most accurate database out there, so definitely worth the ticket price you are paying.

Free 7 Day Trial

One of the changes Market Movers has made is allowing users to try out a free trial. Before you could only sign up for the $50/month plan, but now they have three plan options and with each plan, they are giving you seven days to try it out. That is a great addition to the app, as it gives users a chance to see if this app is truly right for them. You don’t want to make a monthly or yearly commitment without knowing how the product works. This 7-day trial is perfect to test it out and see if Market Movers is right for you.

Who Would Find Market Movers Useful?

With the change in plan options for Market Movers, this makes the app more appealing to all kinds of investors. A newer investor might not be willing to pay $50/month for an app, as they aren’t quite sure if investing in sport cards might be right for them. Now with a couple more inexpensive membership options, it is becoming more appealing.

To be honest, regardless of what kind of investing you are doing, you should definitely be using some kind of data and sales history to help you determine what price to pay. If you aren’t using a tool like this, then you are just speculating and assuming the price will go up. In reality, you could be overpaying for the card to begin with.

While there are some free tools out there to use, they aren’t as easy to use like Market Movers is. It takes a lot of work in these free tools to piece together all the information needed to figure out trends and opportunities. With Market Movers, it will do the work for you and save you time. That should factor into your decision when looking at the pricing. How much is your time worth? If you are spending hours trying to put all the data together, maybe spending $50/month might be worth it?

Market Movers – Final Thoughts

So, is Market Movers worth it? In the end, we think Market Movers is well worth the $50 per month price for the subscription. For those investors putting more and more money into the sports cards niche, this is a great app for you to use. You want to stand out from your competition, so being fully prepared is the way to go and Market Movers allows you to do just that.

With Market Movers, you are using data and information to make an investment. Is it the right investment? Only time will tell on that part, but having that data to back up your choice definitely should make you feel more comfortable in making that final decision.

We all know that the hobby of collecting and selling sports cards is growing very fast. There are going to be more and more tools coming onto the market that will try and help collectors and investors out. These other tools will put pressure on these current apps, like Market Movers, to maximize the value they are offering with their subscriptions. As we have seen, the $50/month subscription only plan has now shifted to three payment options. The more competition, the more app creators will be working to make sure their product is the best of the best out there. For Market Movers, that means a great option will only be getting better.
