Javier Baez was born on 12/2/1992 and was lucky enough to be drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1st round (9th) of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft (he was a major piece in bringing Cub fans their first World Series win in 2016).
Baez is Puerto Rican and can play shortstop or second base and is a hitting machine (Baez won the Silver Slugger Award 2018).
He had a down year in 2019-20 but we expect him to bounce back on 2020-21 (Baez needs to cut down on his strikeouts to truly be an elite caliber player).

2011 Javier Baez Bowman Chrome Draft Prospect Autograph RC #JBA Buy on eBay
See above as it is pretty much the same card (non-refractor) BUT is still a great card for the collector who doesn’t have the budget for the refractor version.
There is also a non-auto version of this card that will only cost $10 to $20 ungraded (i.e. BGS, PSA… read more about these grading companies in our PSA Grading or Beckett Grading (Which is Best for Your Card?) write up).
2015 Javier Baez Topps Chrome RC #89 Buy on eBay
The 2015 Javier Baez Topps Chrome is our favorite Baez rookie card for investment purposes. The card is numbered #89 and shows Baez attempting to turn a double play (most likely he did).
The base card will not cost, much (especially ungraded) but the refractors can get extremely pricey (but these are the ones we like!)
Base, Refractors, Prism Refractors, Purple Refractors, Blue Refractors, Green Refractors, Gold Refractors (#/50), hobby-only Orange Refractors (#/25), Red Refractors (#/5) and Superfractors (1/1). Another Baez Bowman rookie card that is ideal for collectors with smaller bankrolls. The 2013 Javier Baez Bowman Top Prospect RC can be had for under $100 and even at high grades (i.e. PSA 10, BGS 9.5).
Best Investment: Mike Trout Rookie Cards
Baez is at the plate looking to jack one out of the park. His name and team name are centered at the bottom and the card is surrounded by a white border.

Best Javier Baez Rookie Card: 2011 Bowman Chrome RC
For whatever reason, his popularity among baseball card buyers is fairly strong as he is one of the most searched players according to Google Trends.
The one problem he has is his strikeout rate. As we mentioned he needs to cut down on Ks in order to truly become one of the league’s best players. We’re just not sure he can do that and for that reason, we are taking a wait and see approach going into 2021.
