Javier Baez Rookie Card – Value, Checklist, and Investment Advice (Best Card Guide))

Javier Baez Rookie Card

Javier Baez was born on 12/2/1992 and was lucky enough to be drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 1st round (9th) of the 2011 MLB June Amateur Draft (he was a major piece in bringing Cub fans their first World Series win in 2016).

Baez is Puerto Rican and can play shortstop or second base and is a hitting machine (Baez won the Silver Slugger Award 2018).

Here are our top Javier Baez Rookie Cards for investment purposes… and yes we consider Bowman Chrome cards as a rookie card for investment sake.

2011 JAVIER BAEZ Bowman Chrome Draft Prospect Autograph Rookie Card #JBA (buy on eBay)

JAVIER BAEZ auto card

See above as it is pretty much the same card (non-refractor) BUT is still a great card for the collector who doesn’t have the budget for the refractor version.

There is also a non-auto version of this card that will only cost $10 to $20 ungraded (i.e. BGS, PSA… read more about these grading companies in our PSA Grading or Beckett Grading (Which is Best for Your Card?) write up).

2015 Javier Baez Topps Chrome Rookie Card #89 (buy on eBay)

Javier Baez Topps Rookie Card

The 2015 Javier Baez Topps Chrome is our favorite Baez rookie card for investment purposes.

The card is numbered #89 and shows Baez attempting to turn a double play (most likely he did knowing his skillz).

The base card will not cost, much (especially ungraded) but the refractors can get extremely pricey (but these are the ones we like!)

Base, Refractors, Prism Refractors, Purple Refractors, Blue Refractors, Green Refractors, Gold Refractors (#/50), hobby-only Orange Refractors (#/25), Red Refractors (#/5) and Superfractors (1/1). Sepia and Pink Refractors. Purple, Blue, Green, Orange (#/25), Red (#/5) and Superfractors (1/1). Orange Refractors are hobby exclusives while Superfractors are only available in hobby and hobby jumbo packs.

Investment Outlook

Javier Baez is good to a very good player and should put up solid numbers for the next few years.

For whatever reason, his popularity among baseball card buyers is not strong (it is good but not strong).

For that reason, we are only lukewarm on his rookie cards.
