Chris Paddack (01/08/96) is a pitcher who made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2019. He has a solid fastball, changeup, and curveball, and he was one of their better players in a forgettable season.
Originally drafted by the Miami Marlins in 2015, he was traded just a year later. Paddack has since gone on to become one of the most hyped young players in the game.
Are Paddack’s various rookie cards worth taking an interest in? Here’s everything you need to know about the top three options, with info about each card along with an investment report looking at the next few years.

2017 Chris Paddack Bowman Chrome RC #CPA-CP
If you’re looking for the best early Paddack options, his 2017 Bowman Baseball Chrome Prospects Autographs card is probably the ideal place to start.
It’s not a great image, with Paddack gurning as he prepares to pitch, but there are a solid on-card auto and a 1st Bowman logo, which always interests potential collectors and investors.

2019 Chris Paddack Topps Update RC #US207
Paddack’s 2019 Topps Update is another great card, and it comes with the added bonus of an RC logo. The action shot features the player in the process of pitching, with concentration, etched into his face.
It’s worth noting that there’s also a variation card from the same set (numbered US263) which is typically more expensive, and you’ll be able to tell the difference by checking the reverse.

2019 Chris Paddack Topps Heritage RC #ROA-CP
The base 2019 Topps Heritage (#703) features an image of Paddack on the field wearing his Padres uniform, in a traditional design. There’s a couple of variations, including an action shot and a team name color version.
The Real One signed card (numbered #ROA-CP) has the same image, but the addition of an on-card signature next to the RC logo makes it the pick of the bunch by a fair margin, and the one that we’d personally keep an eye out for from an investment perspective.

Already a known quantity to some extent because of his time spent demolishing the minor leagues, Paddack has managed to make the step up well so far.
He delivered on all of the preseason hype, but now he has to push on if he truly wants to be seen as a great over the next few years.
Paddack has a host of cards that aren’t the most expensive options, but he has recently been confirmed as the Padres starting pitcher for 2020. It bodes well, and continued success is sure to see his RC prices reflect that with increased interest.
Any of the options we’ve mentioned look to be good investment pieces as long as Paddack can keep up his current development. He’s only likely to get stronger as he matures, and that’s a worrying development for anyone at the end of one of his pitches.
