Odds

What are the odds of pulling one of these variations? Well, not great, to be honest. Like most things in the card investing world, if you want it, you should probably buy it on eBay vs. tearing open hundreds of packs in hopes of landing card SSP Variation XYZ.

  • SP – 1:9 (1:6 for Hanger Packs)
  • SSP – 1:254 (1:175 Hanger Packs)
  • SSSP – Not officially available, but we hear numbers around 1:1000

Top Variations

Let’s check out the best 6 SP Topps Series 2 Variation Cards for investment purposes… these cards should have tremendous value moving forward. Please note that finding any of these cards graded is unlikely, BUT in the next few weeks/months, they should start popping up on eBay auctions/buy now. We will probably wait to buy until graded cards appear, as buying raw cards is a gamble that hasn’t paid off for us.

2020 Bo Bichette / Luis Robert / Yordan Alvarez Topps Series 2 SSSP Variation Rookie Stars #392

SHOP EBAY

BOOOOOOM goes the dynamite! This is probably the most expensive card of the entire set. Good luck finding this bad mamma jamma on eBay, and IF you do, be prepared to pay through the nose… this sucker sold for $3,400 in early July 2020 ungraded. Imagine what a PSA 10 garde would go for.

2020 Mookie Betts Topps Series 2 SSSP Variation “Hollywood” Dodgers #420

SHOP EBAY

Hollywood is the theme for Mookie in card number #420. Funny because Betts is anything but Hollywood. He goes about his day is one of the top hitters in the game without the need for drama or attention (“look at me, look at me”) like some players crave… we don’t see Betts resigning with the Dodgers. Do we also wonder about the card being numbered 420? Is it a hidden Easter egg?

2020 Luis Robert Black Parallel Topps Series 2 SSP #392

SHOP EBAY

Another BIG bankroll card that will take a deep bite out of your cash stash but a GREAT investment if you think Luis Robert is the next Mike Trout, as many suspects he will be. Numbered #392, the card shows Robert rounding the base looking to turn a lazy single into a double with his better-than-average speed and keen base running eye… we love this card and are on the lookout for one.

2020 Babe Ruth Topps Series 2 SSP Photo Variation #562

SHOP EBAY

This card makes us laugh and reminds us of the baseball glory days… One question: What is the Bambino doing with all those balls?! The card is numbered #562 and should have tremendous value moving forward… especially if you can get your oven mitts on high grades e.g., PSA 10! YUM!

2020 Sandy Koufax Topps Series 2 Photo Variation SSP #381

SHOP EBAY

We like this one as it features one of the greatest pitchers of all-time AT BAT and he got ahold of it from the looks of things. Number #381 the card is not super expensive like most on this list and can be used for a moderate price.

2020 Mariano Rivera Topps Series 2 SSP Photo Variation #557

SHOP EBAY

The Mariano Rivera SSP may be our favorite of the bunch. Iconic photo? Check. Rare? Check (duh). Hall of Fame Player? Check. Oh, and not to mention the first (and only) HOF Unanimously Vote getter… this card is DRIP worthy. Numbered #557 the card shows Rivera enthusiastically raising his hands in celebration. We’re guessing this is one of his World Series wins… grats, Mr. Rivera, on being the best relief pitcher the game has ever seen.
