Top 10 2020 Panini Gold Standard Football Cards
The release is split between a 100-card base set that covers past and present stars, that has six parallels to be on the lookout for. Another 100 cards are used to highlight the 2020 NFL rookie class.
There are a variety of signed options, such as the Rookies Autographs (/199) set which comes with a signed base version for the first time, and Rose Gold (#/25) and Black (1/1) parallels.

It would be nice to see some on-card autos, but collectors generally love gold cards, so it’s clear to see why they’ve gone with such a strong design choice. Prices have also begun to pick up rapidly since release, so there are lots of hits to be on the lookout for if you’re opening a box up for the first time.
2020 Panini Gold Standard Joe Burrow RC #101 (buy on eBay)
Joe Burrow is a QB who currently plays for the Cincinnati Bengals, coming as the first pick overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. A winner of multiple awards in 2019, it’s argued that the season was the greatest ever by a college quarterback, as he broke records on the way to being named as the MVP at the 2020 National Championship Game.

Burrow’s rookie cards are some of the hottest on the market at the moment, and he manages to make this list on multiple occasions. The first one is part of the base Rookies Autographs set and is numbered #101. It has an image of the player with a football clasped in one hand, with an elaborate golden background, and a red RC logo.

2020 Panini Gold Standard Prime Patch Tua Tagovailoa RC #202 (buy on eBay)
Next up is Tua Tagovailoa. Another hyped player who made his NFL debut this season, he was the fifth overall pick in the 2020 draft. As a college football player, he led the Crimson Tide to back-to-back National Championship Game appearances during 2017 and 2018, winning the former as he was named as the MVP.
His RCs are popular, so with a base version numbered to just 75 copies, his Rookie Jersey Autographs is another great investment option. The landscape design makes space for an image of the player, along with a stickered signature and a player patch. You’ll also find a serial number on the front, and a trio of rarer parallels.

Jordan Love is another highly rated rookie, with the QB coming in as the 26th overall pick when he signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2020. Love has yet to make his debut, but his RC options are still seeing major interest, even if they don’t match up to the prices seen above as of yet.

Another card from the Rookie Jersey Autographs set, this is a triple patch that comes in a deep green to match his jersey. The card has a solid gold background, with a stickered auto signed in green ink at the bottom. A serial numbered rookie card, it’s a great low-budget investment piece.

2020 Panini Gold Standard Tom Brady #10 (buy on eBay)
Tom Brady needs no introduction, having played in nine Super Bowls, winning six (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, and LIII), both of which are the most of any player in NFL history.
Despite being at the tail end of his career, his cards are still popular, especially when they’re low serial numbered options such as this one. Part of the vets and legends side of the set, it’s a simple card with a great red and gold finish, and a solid image of Brady in his new Buccaneers uniform. It’s another good entry-level piece from the set and could see values increasing when he eventually retires.

2020 Panini Gold Standard Clyde Edwards-Helaire RC #111 (buy on eBay)
From the present to a player to look out for in the future, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is another first-round pick in 2020. He was a CFP National Champion in 2019, and the young RB joined the Kansas City Chiefs the season after.
From the Rookies set, Edwards-Helaire’s card features him running with the ball, although the stickered auto has a white background, which doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the design. The Rose Gold parallel is especially popular with collectors, and you’ll find the serial number on the front.

2020 Panini Gold Standard CeeDee Lamb RC #285 (buy on eBay)
CeeDee Lamb is another popular rookie who was drafted in 2020, joining the Dallas Cowboys after forgoing his senior year at the University of Oklahoma. He’s seen as the next big thing, and the wide receiver has some of the most interesting cards from the 2020 Panini Gold set.

From the Rookie Jersey Autographs Triple release, this card has a massive patch, while the auto is filled in gold ink. Lamb is pictured on the left, and there’s a trio of popular parallels that ramp up the price.

2020 Panini Gold Standard CeeDee Lamb RC #7 (buy on eBay)
The second Lamb card on the list is from the Golden Debuts subset. Once again, the theme is gold, as it sparkles with a solid background that comes with an understated blue trim. It’s a great looking card, and as with the others, it’s a stickered auto rather than the on-card variety.
The cheaper of the two Lamb cards we’ve mentioned, it has still seen a lot of interest at auction. It also counts as an RC, and there are a duo of rare parallels to keep an eye out for.

2020 Panini Gold Standard Joe Burrow RC #201 (buy on eBay)
Burrow is back again, this time in the card numbered #201. His Rookie Jersey Autographs release has a great landscape design, while the gold background is tempered to make it less shiny than many others from the set. The patch and the auto have seen prices shoot up into the high three-figure range already, giving some indication of just how highly rated Burrow is.

2020 Panini Gold Standard Thurman Thomas #GG10 (buy on eBay)
Thurman Thomas is a retired RB who played for the Buffalo Bills for all but one season of his storied professional career. Thomas made five Pro-Bowl appearances, while he was named as the NFL MVP in ‘91.

As part of the ‘Good as Gold’ subset, this card features the combination of a player patch and a stickered auto, with a vintage image of Thomas in action on the left. Last, but by no means least, the final Burrow card we’ll be looking at is from the Rookie Jersey Autographs Triple set. This landscape option is extremely popular at auction, with a stickered signature that is hidden away tactfully. You could be mistaken for thinking it was an on-card version if you don’t look carefully!
As well as an RC logo, there’s a premium triple patch located at the top of the card.
